First Official Home Football Game of the Season

On August 29, MMHS had their first official home football game.  That morning, the drill team was preparing for their performance that night.  I took a few pics.
Dancing on the football field is always a slight challenge.
But it is a fun part of our season - performing at football halftime!
Pre-performance pic!  Ready to Bounce!
We performed a routine entitled "Bounce".  We learned it at PDC Camp.
It looked great on the field.
We just had one minor technical difficulty.  The music cut out.
But, the girls kept going and didn't miss a beat!
 Way to go Elleves!

My 25th First Day of School

Well, the day had finally arrived, the first day of school.  Summer was officially over!  We started on a Tuesday this year.  Not sure why, but we started school on Tuesday, August 19.  This was my 25th year of teaching!  I can't believe I have been teaching this long!  I could retire in five years, but probably won't.  I think I'll teach until I die! :)  Or at least until Kendrick is 22.
Here I am on the first day -  I posted this pic to commemorate the start of my 25th year of teaching!
This is the pic that Kendrick took of me when we got home from school that day!  Needless to say, the first day of school exhausts me! :)

Maroon & Gold Football Game & Golf Tournament

The MMHS Maroon and Gold Football game was on Friday, August 15.  I couldn't believe it was this time again already!  The summer had flew by!
 Team circle before their performance
Senior Elleves at their first football game of the season!
The team performed the BDT Camp Dance to "Burn".
It was a great first performance.
 Love the kickline!
End pose - jazz hands!  :)

We also held our annual golf tournament the next day on Saturday, August 16.  It was another great success.  The girls and parents really worked hard.  The weather was great and everything went real smooth!
Good job Elleves on another successful golf tournament!

Drill Summer Party

The drill team had a end of Summer party at Tori Little's house on August 12.  She has a great back yard for a party!  It was a luau theme party.
 The team
 Cake for dessert!
Some of the girls decided to use the frosting for makeup?
 Nice!
Then then went outside and had a dance party - of course.

Kendrick at the Dentist

Kendrick had one of his semi annual dentist appointments.  He was looking forward to it.  He likes to ride the horse outside of the dentist office.
Kendrick does really good at the dentist.  He loves watching a movie while he is laying there.
He had another good check up - no cavities and everything looks great!
But, his favorite part is riding the horse!
Good job Kendrick!

Savannah's Wedding

Savannah Martin's wedding was on Friday, August 8.  Her mom had invited me to the temple ceremony.  She sent me a message on Facebook and told me the time was 10 a.m.  So, I made all of the arrangements for drill and Kendrick and headed up to the ceremony.  It was at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.  So, when I get there, I am waiting for the elevator to go up to the sealing room. While waiting, I see Jodi Maxfield, the coach of the Cougarettes, coming down the steps along with another former Cougarette that had been one of Savannah's roommate.  I wondered why they were coming down?  Oh no, had I missed it?

I get on the elevator and must have had a worried look on my face.  The temple worker asked if I knew where I was going.  I said yes and that I hoped I hadn't missed the wedding I was there for. Right then the elevator doors opened and there was Savannah's uncle that is in my ward.  He says, "Molly, you're late, you just missed it!"  I wanted to cry, I was so confused.  I was sure I had the correct time.

I went back downstairs and decided to leave because I was sort of embarrassed for some reason.  But I knew her mom had told me 10 a.m.  So, I walked back out to my car.  There was Savannah's uncle again.  He said what happened?  I told him about the Facebook message and that Tana had told me 10 a.m.  He said, "My sister probably got confused with all that she has been doing for the wedding, etc."  Yeah, that's true.  I didn't want to stress her out either, so I just decided to go home.  I could see Savannah at the wedding reception that night.

This was the post on Instagram that another drill alum posted.  Savannah looked so beautiful!  Her dress was really cute - totally Savannah's style.

Later that night we went to the reception - It was such a fun reception.  The decorations were so cute.  Her mom had done most of it herself.  So cute.

It is so fun to go to former drill member's weddings.  It is fun to see them growing up and moving on with their lives.  I love that they invite me.  Congratulations Savannah and Alex!

Summer Drill Coming to a Close

With it being August, that meant school was just around the corner and summer drill would be ending.  We had been very busy this summer learning choreography and working on football routines, etc.  We also added in workout classes and ballet classes.
Here the girls are doing lunges outside on the track for one of our "Fitness Fridays"!

Fitness Friday collage - Jana Kessinger was our volunteer instructor.  She was great.  She really worked the girls.  Thanks Jana!
We also had ballet every Wednesday.
I love ballet - gives dancers such a strong, solid base for any type of dance.
 Working hard!
Our teacher was Robin Martin - she was great to work with!

She even brought the girls a treat on her last day.  She is in this pic with the girls, but she looks like one of them.  (hint:  she has on the blue tank top) :)

Hopefully all of our hard work this summer will pay off!  Can't wait to see how this team does this year.  Let the performances begin!

Celebrating Emmalee's Birthday Early - at the Zoo

Kaycee invited us to go to the zoo on Monday, August 4.  They were going to celebrate Emmalee's birthday.  Emma's birthday wasn't until later that month, but since there were in town, they were doing something to celebrate it.

Kendrick and I drove up after I got home from drill that morning.  Scott had to work, so he wouldn't be joining us.  We met at the zoo.
Climbing on the gorilla - Kendrick with Jakob and Emmalee.

It had been years since I had been to the Hogle Zoo.  Some things are the same but some things are different.
 Riding in the elephant's trunk.

Kendrick and I got a kick out of watching the elephants.  There was one that looked like it was dancing.  Kendrick really loved seeing all of the animals.
We rode the merry go round.

It was a fun day.  It ended up being really hot.  But we still had a good time.  We were able to see all of the animals that we wanted to see.  It was also fun to spend a little bit of time with Kaycee, Jason, and their kids; Amanda, and Hollie and Andrew.
Kendrick got a drink from this drinking fountain.  It reminds me of the same drinking fountain they had years ago when I went there as a kid.  I need to find the pic my mom has of me by the lion drinking fountain and see if it is the same one.

Luke's Blessing

Baby Luke was born on July 4, 2014.  Kaycee and Jason had him blessed at her mom's ward on August 3.  Jason's dad was also in town so it was a perfect time to bless him.
Jason, holding Jakob, Kaycee, holding Luke, Scott, and Emmalee
Close up shot - except Jakob is looking down.
Me, holding baby Luke.  Kendrick loved to see him.
 So tiny and cute.
Kendrick is an uncle again!
