Kendrick Starts Pre School

In the midst of all the drill team madness, Kendrick started Pre School on January 21.  He was able to attend the second semester of the MMHS Golden Eaglet Pre School.  He was too young to begin at the start of the school year and he also was not potty trained.

So, because he was potty trained now and they had an opening, we decided to have he try it out and see how it goes.

 He is super excited!  In fact, he did his own hair this morning!

 Scott drops him off to me and then I take him up to the pre school around 8:15 a.m.  Then he finishes about 10:40, which is my prep time, and then I run him over to his daycare at Barbara's.

Region Preview

On January 16, we held our annual Region Preview.  It is always the week before Region and is a great way to showcase our competition routines and give us a great audience to perform our routines for and it is a fundraiser.  We invite several of the local dance studios to come and perform in between our routines.

 We start the night off with a camp routine.

 This year we performed the Crazy in Love routine that we learned at PDC Camp.

 A fun routine that is fun to perform too.

 Then we introduce the team members and give them flowers.

 Marci helped me too.  She came back as a competition assistant, especially since Markelle got married in December.

Gearing Up for Region & State

The invitationals are over and that only means one thing in the drill team world . . .Region is just around the corner.  Because of that, we really amp it up and practice, practice, practice.  Breaks from school just mean more practice!  But, it also means some fun too.  After practice on Human Rights day, the team headed to Kneaders for breakfast.

I do a countdown to State each year for the team.  I try to tie it into our theme and do fun, little thoughts, etc. each day up until State Drill.  Our theme this year was "Give it all you've got all the time, team work makes the dream work."  A clock was our symbol.  I made a "clock" to count down to State.  Luckily I had a great TA that helped me hang it up and put it all together.  I admit, I could have been a little more creative, but for me, this is pretty good.

 One of my favorite days is the teamwork day, where I make sugar cookies in different letters and the team has to work together to figure out what it says.

This pic shows the thoughts I read to them each day that corresponded with the treat or thought they received.  It is something I have been doing for a while with my teams.  I love it and look forward to it each year!  I helps them see how close we are getting to the big day!

Scott is a tabulator during drill season, so sometimes we are both busy with competitions.  On the Murray competition, Kendrick stayed with Amanda and Hollie.  They went to the South Town Mall and ran into Katie and Max!  These are some pics they took.
